What Has Always Been Right in Front of Me

What is most important in our faith… what is most real, is that any moment can be the moment that our eyes are opened just a little.

This is what happened to St. Ignatius of Loyola and this is what I pray can happen for you in these next few days as we celebrate the Passion of Christ through Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Sometimes things become so familiar that we forget how amazing they are. This happens with the people closest to us in our lives as well as the practices in our faith. We take them for granted and become blind to what is right in front of us.

Use these last days before Easter Sunday to ask God in a very humble way to heal you of your blindness. Enter the age-old celebrations of the Last Supper, Washing of the Feet, the Stations of the Cross, or even just praying one Our Father with the expectation that God will surprise you. Ask God to open your eyes just a little, and to make it very clear in the way He does it. And once your eyes are opened, take note of it, hold on to that one thing that God shared with you and use it. Use it to rediscover the depth and the beauty of your faith, or the blessings in the people He has surrounded you with. Use it to rekindle your hope in Him and your hope in mankind and remember you don’t have to fight so hard for, throughout His Passion, Christ already won the greatest prize for us, our salvation.

May God bless you in a very special way through the light He will share with you,

The My Saint My Hero Team
