Day 11 - 40 Day Prayer Pledge
My brothers, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon you, for you well know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and perseverance must complete its work so that you will become fully developed, complete, not deficient in any way. James 1: 2-4
God knows when we are having a hard time, when we are suffering, he has been there Himself, on the Cross. Since He is all-wise, all-good and all-powerful, He can bring great things out of our hardships. Why is it so hard to believe this? Recall a hardship that ended up making you a better person. Read the passage again, slowly, maybe out loud; ask Jesus to give you the grace to rejoice in the trials he sends, since they can unite you more closely to him.

A Prayer for Generosity
Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toll and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward,
Save that of knowing that I do your will.
St. Ignatius of Loyola
