DAY 16

READ

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealous and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:13-18

REFLECT

Every day God gives us a chance to make a difference in the world. We can either make a difference for good or evil. Every day we should renew our commitment to show our love for Christ by making a difference for the good. What do I think about most of the day? Would I say that my thoughts and behaviors are more self-centered or Christ centered? Read the passage again slowly, maybe out loud; let the Holy Spirit feed the good desires that He has already planted in your heart.

(Make the Sign of the Cross)

A Prayer of Desire to Love as Christ Loves

Dear Jesus,
help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being,
so utterly, That our lives may only be a radiance of Yours.
Shine through us, and be so in us,
That every soul we come in contact with
may feel Your presence in our soul.
Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus!
Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as You shine;
So to shine as to be a light to others.
The light O Jesus will be all from You,
none of it will be ours;
It will be You, shining on others through us.
Let us thus praise You without preaching,
not by words but by our example.
By the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do.
The evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to You. Amen
