Day 21 - 40 Day Prayer Pledge
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life... Philippians 2:14-16
In ancient times, Christians were called “soldiers of Christ” as well as “children of God”. Soldiers know how to work hard and give of themselves without complaining. What are the things I complain about most? What does Christ think of those things? How can the fact that I am a “child of God” through baptism help me live peacefully and energetically even amidst difficulties? Read the passage again, slowly; think about what the world would be like without light. St. Paul, following Christ’s own words, tells us that when we live our faith we “shine like lights in the world”.

I Have Chosen Jesus
Lord Jesus, I firmly believe in you,
because you have taken the steps of triumph.
“Be courageous. I have overcome the world”
You have told me: walk with giant steps.
Go all over the world, proclaim the Good News,
dry the tears of sorrow,
reassure discouraged hearts,
reunite divided hearts,
embrace the world with the ardor of your love,
do away with what must be destroyed,
leave only truth, justice, love.
But Lord, I know my weakness!
Free me from egoism,
from my securities,
so that I no longer fear the suffering that torments,
unworthy of being an apostle.
Render me strong for adventure.
Make me not worry about the world’s wisdom.
I accepted being treated as someone crazy, for Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
I want to put myself to the test,
ready for every consequence,
heedless of the consequences,
because you have taught me to comfort every adventure.
If you send me to the cross,
I will let myself be crucified.
If you send me into the silence of your tabernacle until the end of time,
I will enter therein with adventurous steps.
I will lose everything: but I will stay with you.
Your love will be there to flood my heart with love for all.
My happiness will be complete.
It is for this that I repeat: I have chosen you.
I want nothing except you and your glory.”
