Day 24 - 40 Day Prayer Pledge
Posted on March 20 2020
You have been called and chosen: work all the harder to justify it. If you do all these things, there is no danger that you will ever fall away. 2 Peter 2:10-11
Our adventure as a follower of Christ is a partnership: God is the senior partner, and we are junior partners. God will always do His part, and He will also help us do our part - if we let Him. What kind of excuses do I make when I don’t feel like doing my part (praying, resisting temptation, loving my neighbor as myself...) in my Christian life? How does the knowledge that you have been “called and chosen” by God make you feel? How should it make you feel? Read the verse again, slowly, maybe out loud: allow it to resound in your soul and strengthen your desire to never “fall away” from your friendship with Christ.
(Make the Sign of the Cross)
From the Universal Prayer
I offer you, Lord,
my thoughts, to be fixed on you;
my words: to have you for their theme;
my actions: to reflect my love for you;
my sufferings: to be endured for your greater glory.
I want to do what you ask of me,
in the way you want, for as long as you want,
simply because you are asking it of me.
Lord, enlighten my understanding, strengthen my will,
purify my heart, and make me holy.
Help me to repent of my past sins
and to resist temptation in the future.
Help me to rise above my human weakness
and to grow stronger as a Christian.
Pope Clement XI
