Day 27 - 40 Day Prayer Pledge
Posted on March 23 2020
As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field: for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him. Psalm 103:15-17
Sometimes we think that life on earth will last forever. But that’s not true. Life on earth is meant to be just a short prelude to eternal life in heaven. We are finite, fragile beings. God’s love is the thing that lasts forever, and so our friendship with Him is more important than even our lives. How often do I think about heaven? How afraid am I of death - the death of a loved one, of myself? How firmly do I believe in God’s promise of eternal life for those who die in friendship with Him? Reread the passage, slowly; let the wisdom of these truths seep into your soul and enlighten your mind.

A Prayer of Hope for Eternal Life
Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
we do well always and everywhere
to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.
In Him, who rose from the dead,
our hope of resurrection dawned.
The sadness of death
gives way to the bright promise of immortality.
Lord, for your faithful people
life is changed, not ended.
When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death
we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven.
And so, with all the choirs of angels in heaven
we proclaim your glory.
And join in their unending hymn of praise:
Holy, holy, holy,
Lord, God of power and might;
The heavens and the earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest! Alleluia
