May Crowning is such a beautiful way to honor Mary who is our Mother too. As we hail her Queen of the Universe, let us also profess her as Queen of our hearts, our lives, and our families. She is our greatest example and heroine, our strongest advocate and teacher.
Not only is the Hail Mary Morse Code Prayer Rope a versatile piece, but one overflowing with meaning, and is especially appropriate for this year as we continue the celebration of Our Lady of Fatima, holding the rosary and our Hail Mary close to our hearts.
The Lord spoke to my heart and said, “Who are you to say that what I have created isn’t perfect?” As I was praying with these words, my mind was filled with images of the people in the Dominican Republic I had encountered. There were few opportunities for education, many didn’t have much food or clothing, yet many exuded joy in their state of simplicity. I recalled a sweet grandmother who had a few people from our mission group over for lunch one day. She lovingly prepared a meal for us in her home made up of sticks and mud and said to us, “I feel bad for many Americans because they are spiritually impoverished. I know that I am rich in the Lord.” The people in this community knew their worth and identity as children of God, and rejoiced in that. How could I not live in joy and gratitude as well? How could I question who the Lord had created me to be or where my true identity was? During that hour of prayer, the Holy Spirit revealed to me my truest identity, and it forever changed the way I view myself and those around me. I am a daughter of God, beloved and treasured beyond my own understanding.
He chooses to work with each of our souls in the way that's best for us. With me, He gently calls me to love, over and over again, because He wishes to draw me to Himself, He who is Love Incarnate. He calls me to love with all the finesse and exquisiteness of my femininity.
With a pastor as a father, my mother learned the importance of faith, fellowship, and love at an early age. She passed down those same key values and principles, which has become the foundation of my life. Some of my mother's favorite bible verses, "faith without works is dead" (James 2:24-26) and "put God first In everything you do and He will crown your efforts with success" (Proverbs 3:6-8) are ones I always remembered as a child that provided guidance and clarity throughout the challenging times of my life.
God exists; that is the real message for Easter. Anyone who even begins to grasp what this means also knows what it means to be redeemed. (Pope Benedict XVI)
This is the true gift of our faith; to know that God is real. From this comes a hope and a burning in our hearts so bright that nothing or no one can take it away. We can live in the knowing that no matter what we do He will always be there to make sure we know we are always forgiven and deserving of His love. This is what shapes how we spend every day, and even how we make every decision within those days.
All of us are invited to come home to where God dwells with us, wipes away our tears, and gives us the fullness of life and joy in the presence of Christ. During Easter season, you have a very special and heartfelt invitation; no matter how far you have wandered, no matter where you […]
We’re all born with this amazing knowingness of who we are and then somehow along the way we just...forget. or probably more appropriately stated, we learn it away, being very powerfully pushed and herded into shapes and jobs and relationships that someone else, some society, some education system, some family upbringing decided for us. Not nefariously, but out of love and concern. But in the process, we lose the ability to hear our own voice. And believe me, as much of an overachiever as I have been in my life, as much success as some would perceive that I have had, there is absolutely nothing that satisfies my need to live life, fully contributing and participating open throttle, to my absolute capacity for joy, passion, forgiveness and love, as does answering the call of my inner voice. Because that voice has no agenda other than to live truthfully and love fully. And that's what this symbol reminds me, every day.
In this Lenten season, may we join our hearts in prayer as we walk to the cross together… may we be granted a “Servant’s Heart!” We are reminded of the words of Visionary Mirijana during our most recent pilgrimage in Medjugorje, “When I get down on my knees to pray I don’t ask for help in […]
As we continued our journey in Israel with Nia Peeples, the age-old question as to the identity of Mary Magdalene became a topic of regular discussion. With child-like intrigue, she asked many people who we came upon what their thoughts/beliefs were on Mary Magdalene. If you have learned something about Mary Magdalene on your faith journey, please […]
Today we are remembering back to July 22, 2016, the first official feast day of St. Mary Magdalene in the church, and the first day that Nia Peeples walked through the doors of My Saint My Hero. We had been introduced to each other through a mutual friend, and because Nia loved our story and […]
My sweet sister and I sat in the car the other night and she asked me what it meant to hear God. And I said, “What the heck, lets just ask Him to speak to us.” We sat there, waiting on God and after not even 2 minutes she said, “Madi, God showed me a […]
The Garden. In the word, we see the Garden is the meeting place of God, where Adam and Eve walked with God without fear or shame, in pure intimacy with Him. It’s where Jesus knelt as the soldiers came and the deepest of darkness fell upon Him, where He chose us, to be our Redeemer, […]
An icon is a “window into heaven” because it offers us a glimpse of what awaits us in eternity with Christ—it’s like a meeting between heaven and earth. As you look through this window, you are also being seen through the eyes of love by those pictured in the icon. In a way, you have […]
One of the many gifts that comes with being part of the My Saint My Hero family is meeting like-minded, God-loving, mission-driven people with incredible stories. We teamed up with Josh Blakesley, a talented musician who is on a mission to spread God’s blessings, to create this Signature Limited Edition Breathe Blessing Bracelet inspired by his song, Beautiful is Your Love.
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a bit more!” I think to myself, “Finally! A weekend to relax and recover from the previous weekend that was Thanksgiving and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas on replay.” Then in that same moment I realize Christmas is right around […]
