How to Pray like St. Monica
St. Monica shows us by example the power of prayer for the conversion of souls. Her son Augustine was not a Christian, and although his mother was devout, she did not know how to open his heart to receive the grace and abundance of faith. So St. Monica stopped trying, and she started praying. She prayed every day, all the time, for his conversion, and in the silence of her heart, she wept for him because of his lost soul.
At the age of 31, Augustine experienced his conversion and became one of the greatest leaders of our Catholic Church. St. Augustine was prayed over every day, and his mother’s prayers were answered. Inspired by this confidence, we too, pray for all those lost in the confusion of this world. May they open their heart and soul to the truth of God within them.
God’s light is within each human being, and we pray that we can be an instrument to ignite the spark of light within them. AMEN.
