Inspiration from the Saints—Change in the Journey is Good

Inspiration from the Saints—Change in the Journey is Good

Working at My Saint My Hero was a “second season” opportunity.

I say second season because the first “season” of my career was spent in education. I worked 20 years in Catholic education and I have always lovingly said, that my experience of those years truly prepped me for anything! (like, anything)

In education the work is truly ministry.

It is an act of love and serving God. It is a palms up ministry because honestly, you have to be open to what God has in store for you. If you have your palms open to heaven, it allows the surrender and plea of help, inspiration, and vulnerability needed to be an educator.

With that being said, it helped me to be prepped my “second season” of life.

So here I sit.

In a new career at My Saint My Hero.

I feel there is opportunity for ministry here...but it lends itself to something a bit different.

Today, I was met with a daily Saint Quote email from our owner, Amy. A quote from St. Francis of Assisi. A quote that actually hangs in a frame on our wall at work.

It says:

"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." —St. Francis of Assisi

She shares candidly that this inspirational quote reminds of her of change and she doesn’t always like change. I mean, who does?

Hmmm...well I do

I embrace change. There is a running joke in my family that my oldest and I are the only ones that “kind of love it” and we embrace it.

I think because we both know God is the center of all things.

Nothing in life stays the same…only He stays the same.

As an early child educator, one of the first developments a child learns is “trust vs mistrust.” (There are two theories on this but bear with me) Those formative factors can still be true for us. So much we are surrounded in this world is not trusting. We are misguided and misinformed.

However, I know for sure I can trust God. Just like I can trust life will change. Yet, He never does.

God has to be in the change. If he is not for you, He is begging you to invite Him in.

Listen up, because St. Francis is moving you on this...and it isn’t even his feast day!

God is in the necessary. God is in the possible. God is in the impossible.
