St. Teresa of Calcutta - I Thirst
I Thirst
As she is sitting in the railroad station waiting for the train to take her to India, Mother Teresa sees homeless people resting on the floor and leaning against the wall. Suddenly as she looks into the face of one homeless man appears to be the sweet face of Jesus Christ! He looks deep within her soul and proclaims, “I Thirst.”
I thirst for your love. I thirst for your friendship. Your love will quench my dying need. Pour your love into me like water upon my pallet. I will drink you in. Only your love. That is what I long for!
Mother Teresa became a fount of love overflowing into the heart of Jesus. She loved Him so much that every action became an expression of this love. Through daily action, she became acutely aware that in every moment, we have the opportunity to BE THE ONE to bring light into the room, to bring love into the brokenhearted and healing upon the wounded. It is not by us but through us that Jesus can work miracles.
“I used to think that prayer changes things... I now know that prayer changes us, and we change things.” —St. Teresa of Calcutta
Daily Prayer of St Teresa of Calcutta
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine.Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me, and then I shall begin to shine as You shine, so to shine as to be a light to others. AMEN
